Transition Centres is a corporately funded educational program under the Disability Policy and Programs Directorate in the Department for Education. There are 2 campuses that capture enrolment of students from various secondary schools in metropolitan Adelaide. Senior school students who have been included as part of the NCCD (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data) model are eligible. Home schools, families, students and other supports work collaboratively to determine the desired outcomes at enrolment, whether it be;
- SACE completion
- pathways to further education
- skills for independent living
Students, schools, families select the days of attendance based on interest, availability and suitability to courses.
Our Centres aim to build strong connections and new partnerships in the transition of senior students with diverse needs. We model collaborative approaches and positive communication so that all students can experience success. Inclusive programs are delivered that gain a deeper understanding about the future aspirations of our students through ‘goal’s based’ learning programs.
At the forefront is flexible SACE delivery that challenges the learning of all. We have a suite of subjects that inspire students to further develop interpersonal and practical skills for career development and life beyond school. But, we are always after new ideas and requests!
We continue to grow our practice and programs through an increasing flexibility to learning delivery for students who require a more personalised approach. Our focus on relationship and connection ensures that each student is provided with individual attention that maps progress every step of the way. Our teachers are responsive to student need and pride themselves on an ability to ensure that every student is achieving their personal best.
Transition Centres are a nurturing environment that encourages and supports our learners to ‘find their voice’ as they begin to navigate life as a young adult.
